St. Pats Stamullen club notes

September 24, 2014

Having won the Junior 2 HC last year, St Pats take on Kildalkey in the Junior A hurling final.

Victorious Junior C Win J.F.C
Having seen honours even in Pairc Tailteann in the previous game with Blackhall Gaels this match went to a replay which was played at Kilbride Gaa Grounds. Both teams started off well taken point from point. A blood injury to Niall Russell led to the first replacement for St.Pats who eventually shaded the 1st half by 3 scores on a scoreline of 0:7 to 0:4.  With Blackhall wasting no time in taken to the pitch early & with Ref Pat Clarke blowning on his whistle to call on the Pats who had decided to take their interval in the dressing room.  Gaels started brighter in the 2nd half infact taken the 1st three scores with the Pats backline still in interval mode. However that soon changed and the Pats were back on top taken their scores with the impressive Barry Campbell taken his scores with ease. Midfield battles were won by the experienced Cormac Sullivan ablely assisted by Brian  Calvey & Alan Vickers. As the Pats were easing ahead with led to the introduction of a few subs with Liam Nulty bagging the goal with stretched the Pats lead ever further. As the clock was winding down St.Pats added a few pts to the scoreline but there was never going to be a comebck for Gaels. Final Score St.Pats 1:13 - Blackhall Gaels 0:7.  So the 39yr wait was over & team Captain Alan Vickers lifted the Cup at the presentation to a joyous travelling Pats army and thanked Blackhall Gaels team for a great game. Celebrations followed with the team on pitch and later in Whytes of Stamullen. Well done to all JCFC Winners 2014

Hurlers make the JHC Final.
In the Semi final of the "David Grey Catering" Hurling Championship St.Pats disposed of a well fancied Boardsmill team which was played in Kilmessan to make the final where Kildalkey were waiting at the other end. An exciting game to watch with St.Pats just shading the 1st half by 4pts but in the 2nd half it was Boardsmill who took the first 2 scores with a goal & a pt putting them back on terms in quick succession however the Pats up'd their game after this and brilliantly took their scores in the end running out worthy winners. Final score St.Pats 3:13 - Boardsmill 1:11. The final is scheduled to take place in Pairc Tailteann on Friday 26th September with throw in at 6.45pm.

Underage Football - News & Results

Juvenile U8's Hurling
In the "Meath Go Games Hurling Junior Royals" the kids visited their nearest rival St.Colmcilles to take part in their home blitz along with Ratoath & Wolfe Tones. Another great day out not just for St.Pats but for all teams as they learn the trade of the wonderful sport of Hurling. In the final "Junior Royals" Blitz games of the season St.Pats held their final home blitz of the Gaa season with Cilles, Ratoath & Wolfe Tones visiting for the morning. Great to see so many kids playing hurling but especially for St.Patricks as it see's our juvenile teams continue to develop in a once "non-existent" setup. Many thanks to Hugh Reilly Senior member of St.Pats hurling team & his assistants who give up their free time to continue to encourage & develop the children in hurling. The underage hurling groups will finish up on 20.10.14 for the season.

U6's Football
Parents note that the U6's will complete their season on 25th October.  Thanks to all the children for a great season & hope to see you back in 2015.

U8's & U10's & U11's
In the "Newgrange Division of Meath Go Games" both the U'8 & U10's  held their final home blitz of the Gaa season & the finals games of the "Newgrange Division of Meath Go Games" for both U8's/U10's with Ratoath & St.Colmcilles the teams that were visiting for the morning. Both age groups have come a long way since the start of the season & can be proud of their achievements to date.  This will conclude the U8's season Games for 2014 however there is some possibility of some Astro tuft "Light sessions" with Barry Campbell, while the U10's will continue to train for a couple of weeks & finish off with indoor training. The U11's have formed for an Autumn/Winter league where they will feature in 9 games in a league format. In their 1st match the Pats hosted St.Mary's in a good game in Stamullen, with things evenly level at halftime, but with St.Mary's having that little bit more in the tank and experience prevailed in the end. This is a 1st outing for our U11's who are stepping up to a higer level, they will continue to learn and gain experience which will benefit them in the end.

Boys U13's
In the start of the U13 football league Div 3 round 1 was St.Pats v Round Towers and a home fixture for the Pats who gave a good game to their oppostion but in the end were defeated. Girls U11's
The return of the U10 girls who will part take in the U/11 South West Autumn/Winter Leagues. Games for both St.Pats Green Team & White teams during the month of Septemeber were Dunsany, Slane, Summerhill, St. Colmcilles, Rathkenny, Dunboyne, Dee Rangers & Ballivor. Well done girls continuing to make great progress.
Girls U13's
U13 Green will played St Colmcilles in their first league match in Stamullen and had a convincing win while our White Team travelled to play Kilbride. Other matches for the girls in the month were against Ratoath & Boardsmill. In the Ratoath match it was a fantastic result tonight for St Pats who won very easely the girls really dazzled under the bright lights and the watchful eye of the U12 Meath manger. Once again the teamwork and unselfish play was key to girls girls success, so back to back wins now for the girls who just seem to be going from strength to strength.

Girls U14's Shield Final Replay
The much awaited U14 final reply v Trim took place on Sunday 14th September in Pairc Beagteach. Bective for their long awaited shield reply, to be honest it was a long wait for this reply but with a feeling it had come to too soon for the girls after our summer break with match fitness looking to be  an issue. This turned out to be a very good game of football played in a very sporting manner by both teams, After about 15 minutes our match fitness concerns were unfounded as you could see the Pat's girls were up for this test and you could just sense they were not going to let this one slip away. Eventually we did come out on the right side of the score line of 4:12 to 2:08, in her captain's speech Jade Geraghty thanked the Referee all the parents and mentors and Trim for an excellent game of football. I could mention any one of the 14 girls on the day but I have to give a special mention to Pats Goal keeper Katie Brangan for her heroics between the posts.
Minor Ladies
Our Minor ladies traveled to Dunboyne & had a great win, winning 12-14 to 6-05. Great team performance from all the girls well done.

Meath Girls U12's
Another great day for the Meath U12 girls team today in Carlow as they bet Wexford in the final of a Leinster Championship completion. This news is extra special for us at St Pats as the Meath team was captained by our very own Ellen Grant. We want to send out a very big congratulations to Ellen and her team and another big milestone for Ellen. St. Pats are all very proud of Ellen and what she has achieved in such a short time playing Gaelic football.
Scott Gets The Silver
Congratulations to St.Pats U10 player Scott Guildea who won the silver medal in the U10 Comminity Games Hurdles Finals in Athlone recently. Scott won his heat & went on to win his semifinal to take his place int he final. He was awarded a silver medal after a nail-biting photo finish. Scott did both his parish & his county proud. Well done Scott from all your team mates in the U10's at St.Patricks Gaa.  An All Ireland medal at age 9 that is one great achievement.
