Two big games in the Intermediate Football Championship this evening in Pairc Tailteann.

Kilmainham inspired by county star Michael Newman defeated Carnaross to maintain their Intermediate status for 2015. Newman scored an impressive ten points. Carnaross take the dreaded drop to Junior.

A magnificent performance from Ballinlough saw them qualify for the Intermediate final with a two point win over Castletown. The Lough, thanks to a Tommy McCullen goal, led 1-7 to 0-3 after twenty minutes. Castletown stormed back and goals from Kenny Smith and Darren Finney had Donal Curtis' men 2-5 to 1-7 ahead with two minutes left in the half. Former county man Peadar Byrne struck for Ballinlough's second goal and Tom Shine's charges went in at the break 2-7 to 2-6 ahead.

Ballinlough laid the platform for victory in the opening 20 minutes of the second half kicking six unanswered points. They had to withstand a late Castletown charge in the closing ten to march on to their first IFC final since 1991.
