Camogie: Dunboyne and Trim must do it again!

September 15, 2014

Meath and Dunboyne star Sinead Hackett

Dunboyne and Trim Senior Camogiers played out a draw after extra time, last night, in the Senior Camogie Semi-Final.

This match was arguably one of the most exciting games of this years championship with both teams displaying superb skill and never say die attitudes. Remarkably, this was the second draw between these two teams this year, as they drew in the earlier round match in May. Both teams were unbeaten in championship, apart from a loss each to Kilmessan, and neither full time nor extra time could separate them last night.

Dunboyne went into this match a determined team, after suffering their only defeat of this years championship, on the same pitch on Tuesday night. Trim were first off the mark with a goal, but Dunboyne camogiers never panicked and were soon back on level pegging for the first of many draws of the match, thanks so the scoring prowess of Sinead Hackett.

Dunboyne continued to refuse to give up on their chance of reaching a final for the first time in over 30 years in the second half, with scores from Aoife Thompson, Lisa Carroll, Ais Garvey and Hackett bringing Dunboyne back from a 6 point deficit.
Extra time saw much of the same grit and determination by all players on both sides. Every girl from Dunboyne stood up and made their presence felt on the pitch, but particular credit needs to go to Maeve Clince, Ellen Burke, Chloe Coyne and Fiona O'Neil.

Both teams will have to fight it out again for a place in this years final and if Saturdays match is anything to go by, it is a match that is not to be missed!

Dunboyne: Hannah Bowman, Bronagh Moran, Ellen Burke, Claire Barker, Maeve Clince, Laura Reilly, Lisa Carroll, Amy Coyne, Fiona O' Neil, Sinead Hackett, Chloe Coyne, Ais Garvey, Aoife Thompson, Sinead Clince, Kate O' Carroll
Subs: Clare Gilligan for Sinead Clince.
