St. Michaels managed to keep in touch with Rotoath for the opening half of this first round fixture in Carlanstown on Saturday evening last after Cian McFadden 0-2, Jack Dunne 0-2, Conor Gaffney 0-1 and Andrew Allen 1-1 got their opening half scores to trail by 1-6 to 2-6 at the interval.

The opening 10 minutes of the second half saw Ratoath stretch that lead to 6-10 to 1-7 and from there to the end it only got worse for St. Michaels as the visitors finished with a tally of 8-18 to the home sides 4-9. Brian Reilly 2-2 and Gerard Walsh 1-1 were on target for St. Michaels in that second half. Along with the scorers Justin McPhillips, Cian Curran, Wayne Brennan and Kaylem Murray tried hard for St. Michaels.
