IHC quarter: Dunderry send Kells packing

This IHC quarter-final was played under lights in Pairc Tailteann Monday night and both teams put on a fine display of hurling.

Dunderry got off too a good start with Davy Gilkeson slotting over a free after 4 mins, then Alex Walsh scored a point after 10 mins and was unlucky not to hit the net. The defensive line of Davy & Evan Stephens and Davy McCormack were solid and the the half back line of Conor Dempsey, Conor O'Shea and Killian Minogue were immense. Luke Martyn's high fielding was causing problems and scored a fine point, Minogue scored point of the game taking a clearance from McCormack  side stepped the on rushing Kell's man soloed to the half way line and knocked over a superb point in the 29th min. Gilkeson was punishing the opposition and added 3 more points including a '65' and a free to leave halftime score 0-7 to 0-6 to Dunderry.

The second half started with Liam Dempsey blocking a clearance and scoring a fine point, O'Shea was dominate in the halfback line seaming to clear, block and tackle nearly everything. The Gilkeson master class in free taking was a pleasure to watch ending with a total of 0-10, Dunderry held strong and ran out winners and now look ahead to the semi-final.
