Kilskyre's Tommy Shine

Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter Final

Kilskyre 4-8
Wolf Tones 1-13

Venue Trim in glorious conditions, Kilskyre overcame Wolf Tones in a hard fought and physical encounter to land themselves back in the Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final once again.

Wolf Tones started off the better outfit racing into a 1-3 to 0-2  lead in the first ten minutes, but it was then that Kilskyre took control and this was a case of ' goals win matches'.  Ronan Mc Guinness latched onto a superb pass from Peadar Byrne to crack the roof of the net and then enter man of the match Tom Shine with two well taken goals and another from Mc Guinness to go in at half time leading by a score of Kilskyre 4-3 to Wolf Tones 1-6.

In the second half the Tones tried to come back at Kilskyre but to no avail.  Again Tom Shine was taking scores with ease finishing with a tally of 2-5 and an outstanding performance.

With Pa Baugh in goals and a rock solid defence six in front of him that left no way through for the Tones.  Peadar Byrne again ran the midfield and scored a brillant point from play after a seventy meter solo.  Seanie Geraghty pushed Shine for man of the match with a fine preformance.  But it was the Shine show that put the Kilskyre men into the Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final.

This team did not hit the heights yet that they are capable of, which could cause many problems for future opposition in this grade.  Pat Clancy's Kilskyre men move on into the semi's in good shape.
