St. Peters Dunboyne 2-15
Curraha 0-9
St. Peters Dunboyne this evening gained an impressive 12 point victory over Curraha in the Junior A Quarter Final played in perfect conditions in Ratoath.
In what was predicted to be a closely fought affair Curraha started the brighter in the first few minutes and had two points on the board to catch Dunboyne on the hop early doors. St. Peters finally settled into their stride and were level a couple of minutes earlier from a close range David McEntee free along with a score from corner forward Niall Carolan.
St. Peters started to move the ball around very nicely soon after and when a fine move involving Stephen Moran & Michael Dunne put David Clarke in he cooly finished to the Curraha net to give Dunboyne the first advantage of the game. Dunboyne's forward play was very impressive and when a cross field ball was overshot it looked like the next attack was over until full forward Michael Dunne gathered the ball and struck over an excellent long range effort to extend the lead further. In between two more Curraha scores St. Peters added on 3 more scores before the end of the first half one each for McEntee, Carolan and Dunne to leave Dunboyne five clear at the break.
The second half started off even enough with both sides trading early scores but the difference never looked like being pegged back as Dunboyne were now controlling the midfield through Barry Comer & Padraic Curran who both had excellent games. Further points were tagged on from McEntee, Carolan and centre forward Stephen Moran as St. Peters took a stranglehold on the game.
The striking blow for Curraha came midway through the second half as after great work from Shane Comiskey he fisted the ball across for Clarke to convert from close range to give him his second goal of the game and Dunboyne were all but home and dry. Shane Comiskey & Philip D'Arcy both added on two scores each towards the end of the game to give Dunboyne a comfortable victory as they go forward in confident mood for the semi-final
