Group B of the hoganstand.com Meath senior football championship has been sorted. Having lost their opening three games Dunshaughlin picked up a precious win in round four.
They still required something from their last game against table toppers Simonstown. For long spells Colm O'Rourkes charges were in control at Ashbourne. With ten minutes remaining they led 2-13 to 1-8. But Kit Henry's men staged a remarkable comeback to earn a draw. Caoimhin King got a goal to leave a it 3-9 to 2-13. Shane Gallogly levelled matters and gave Dunshaughlin a vital point.
Over in Simonstown Navan O'Mahonys had too much firepower for Walterstown. The 'Hoops' finished with 17 points to spare.
Seneschalstown also had too much firepower for Gaeil Colmcille in Pairc Tailteann. Goals from Bryan Clarke, Gary Conlon and Damien Sheridan put the Yellow Furze men 3-11 to 0-1 up at the break. Oisin Reilly gave Kells some hope with a goal early in the second half but Joe Sheridan raised Seneschalstown's fourth green flag and the game was over as a contest.
Simonstown top the group with nine points, O'Mahonys finish second on 7, Seneschalstown take 3rd position and qualify for the preliminary quarter final. Gaeil Colmcille, Dunshaughlin and Walterstown all finished on 3 points but the Blacks end up bottom on score difference.
In the Intermediate championship Castletown assured themselves of a place in the knockout stages with a comfortable win over Kilmainham.
