August 24, 2014

Trim's Shane Ashe is under pressure against Boardsmill in the Meath SHC game at Kildalkey

Last years senior hurling championship finalists Longwood advanced to the knockout stages with a four point win over Navan O'Mahonys at Lomans Park Trim.

The 'Wood' finished in third spot with six points out of ten. O'Mahonys will face Na Fianna in the relegation final.

Over in Kildalkey at the same time, Boardsmill who were hoping for an O'Mahonys win, while winning themselves had no answer to a strong Trim outfit.

John Andrews' charges topped Group A with maximum points from five outings.

Trim laid the foundations for this win with three goals inside the opening 15 minutes. James Toher, Neily Heffernan and Alan Douglas raised those green flags.

Boardsmill battled back and with the aid of a Niall Weir goal trailed at the break 3-3 to 1-7.

Playing with the elements in the second half Trim outscored their opponents 1-10 to 0-3.

In the intermediate Gaeil Colmcille recorded a fine win over unbeaten Ratoath.
