Full credit must go out to these two young teams for the great display of honest football that they served up from start to finish in this very exciting U12 Summer League Group E Semi-final played under very wet conditions in Syddan on Wednesday evening, but thankfully it dried up somewhat as the game entered extra time.

As the scoreline suggests there was nothing between the sides all through the game. In U-12 competitions goals and points count as one score and St. Michaels were off the mark first as Wayne Brennan found the target, it was score for score throughout the opening 25 minutes with Wayne finding the target once more and Ben Gaffney finishing off the first half scoring for St. Michaels adding two more scores to level the match at 4 apiece at the break.

Each side registered 6 apiece in the second half with Cian McFadden, Jack Dunne, Wayne Brennan, Andrew Allen, Marty Giles and Kevin Reilly all getting on the scoreboard for St. Michaels in that period and it ended 10 apiece at the end of normal time.

A total of 15 minutes of extra time followed and St. Michaels had the better of the exchanges in the opening half registering 2 scores from Marty Giles and Jack Dunne, Syddan gave it their all in the second half of extra time scoring once and holding St. Michaels scoreless but the visitors held on to book themselves a place in the final.

Along with the scorers Kevin Reilly, Brian O'Reilly and Paddy Finnegan worked very hard for the winners.
