AFL3: Bracks win against Meath Hill

July 28, 2014

Ballinabrackey's Michael Kearney with Ballivor's Padraig Geoghegan
Ballinabrackey 1-13
Meath Hill 2-9

Ballinabrackey finished their league campaign with a well earned but hard fought win over a very spirited Meath Hill outfit on Sunday morning.

The North Meath men had the perfect start within ten minutes leading by two goals to no score with Ballinabrackey asleep at the back. However Meath Hill seemed to fall asleep themselves after that when the Bracks managed to pull the game back level and furthermore take the lead by three points heading towards the change of ends. Some well worked scores and with Andrew Munnelly and Micheal Kearney a constant thorn in the Meath hill defence the Bracks went in ahead 2-02 to 1-07.

The Bracks started the second half well and some fine scores from Munnelly and Daire Kennedy the looked like pulling away but the Meath Hill men stayed with them till the end, exchanging points till the final whistle.

In what was a great effort from both team the defensive display from Ballinabrackey in the final ten minutes saw them through this tough encounter on a scoreline of 1-13 to 2-09.
