FL Div 2: Ratoath worthy winners

Ratoath's Intermediate footballers were worthy winners tonight in this entertaining league fixture played in Pilltown against St Colmcilles. It was the latter who were first out of the blocks in setting a lively pace and were 0-5 to 0-2 in front after 15 minutes . It was then though Conor Rooney grabbed a goal for the away side and from then it was virtually score for score right up until the half time whistle. As it was Ratoath had the slight advantage going in at the interval 1-7 to 0-9.

Ratoath who were missing a couple of key men through injury in Gavin Quigley and Cian O'Brien, nonetheless did not appear to be weakened and continued to perform well from 1 to 15 right throughout the second half. While it was very much tit-for-tat for most of the second half period eventually a Brian O'Connor goal proved to be the game clincher with 10 minutes to go. This put the visitors 4 points ahead and from then on Fergal Power's men were able to get a couple of more points to seal the victory by 6 points. Best in what was an excellent team display were Rob Waters, Brian O'Connor, Gareth Rooney, Emmet Boyle, Colm Nugent and Nigel Duignan.
