ST BRIGID'S 2-12

'Keeper Ciaran Farrelly spared Syddan blushes with a penalty save to deny the visitors an equalising goal in added time at Ludlow Park.

The hosts led by five points with time almost up but the lead was cut to two after St Brigid's broke through for a goal a minute into injury time.

Daire Rowe replied with his ninth point of the hour before the penalty drama, with Farrelly diving to his right to keep out a well struck effort.

A minute later Cormac Rowe made certain of victory with the final score of the game.

St Brigid's had the opening three scores but the sides were level at 0-4 each following a Cormac Rowe point on 12 minutes.

The sides were level on four other occasions in the half and at the break it was 0-8 apiece.

A goal within two minutes of the restart boosted St Brigid's chances and Syddan didn't gain parity until Ben Bashford's 48th minute point.

Points from James Farrelly, Daire Rowe (two) and Luke Halpenny left Syddan four clear and that lead stretched further as they continued to pick off scores.

After allowing their opponents hit back in the closing minutes Syddan were somewhat flattered to end four point winners.
