Summerhill were defeated by Syydan in round 1 of the Junior C Championship in Martry on Saturday evening.

The game was tight at half-time with Syydan holding just a one point lead, 0-7 to 1-3. Declan Bruton was the goal scorer for Summerhill.

Summerhill could only add one point in the final 30 minutes and lost in the end by eight points.
