The hoganstand.com/Meath football team of the week.
Marcus Brennan Navan O'Mahony's: Proving yet again that he is the best club keeper in the county. His kick outs (Cluxton style) never missed the target.

Stephen McGabhann Navan O'Mahonys: Unusual to see McGabhann starting so deep in defence but the number 2 gave a fine exhibition of defending as Seneschalstown were easily dispatched at Pairc Tailteann.

Niall McKeigue Navan O'Mahonys: Still rolling back the years and producing great performances for the 'hoops'. The rock at the heart of the Navan defence.

Barry Tormay Gaeil Colmcille: The best defender on view as Gaeil Colmcille started life in the senior grade with a win over Dunshaughlin.

Padraigh Geraghty Summerhill: On a night that very little went right for the defending champions Geraghty was the one player who stood out for 'The Hill'.

Shane Melia Donaghmore Ashbourne: Solid and dependable and made very good use of possession as Paul Clarke's charges got off to a win at Dunsany.

Niall Kane Simonstown: Kane was the best player on view as Colm O'Rourkes men eased to a 13 point win over Walterstown. The talented half back also kicked a point for the winners.

Ollie Lewis Na Fianna: Picking up where he left off in 2013. Lewis dominated the midfield area, threw in a few of his trade mark catches and kicked a couple of points as Na Fianna upset Summerhill.

Alan Nestor Blackhall Gaels: Great work rate from Nestor in Blackhall's win over Oldcastle. The midfielder scored two crucial points in their 0-11 to 0-8 win at Trim.

Kevin McKeon Ballivor: One of the many star performers for Ballivor as Carnaross were dispatched in Pairc Tailteann. McKeon hit 1-5 for the winners.

Bryan McMahon Ratoath: 2-3 from the Meath under 21 and senior star as championship favourites Ratoath had a comfortable win over St Ultans in Walterstown.

Dalton McDonagh Na Fianna: The star man of the championship opening round. An outstanding performance that yielded a hat-trick of goals and two points against reigning champions Summerhill to make up for last years final defeat.

Mark O'Sullivan Moynalvey: A real tour de force from O'Sullivan against Donaghmore Ashbourne kicking seven points, 4 from play, out of Moynalvey's 10 point total.

Cian Ward Wolfe Tones: Still one of the best club forwards on the scene. 1-4 from the former county man as the Tones beat Skryne at headquarters.

Conal McGinley Duleek Bellewstown: Sent over six points, two of them well worth the admittance fee, as favourites Dunboyne were sent packing at Ashbourne.
