Successful blitz for under 16 hurlers

Meath U16 Hurler's under manager John Delaney had a very successful Leinster Blitz day in Ferns, Wexford last Saturday.
 
Meath started off against Westmeath and raced into a 1g 10pts lead thanks to great points from Ethan Devine, Jack Cummins, Conor Mc Nally, Cormac Matimoe, Brian Dowling, Ronan Byrne and Sean Keogh.
 
Cian Slattery got Meath's goal in the first half and Meath were playing with a strong wind and finished at half time Meath 1g 10pts to Westmeath 3pts.
 
Meath turned over in the second half against a strong breeze and defenders Darren Hennessy,Peter Farrell,Jack Cummins,Aidan Mangan,Ben Mc Gowan and Thomas Conroy all were rock solid in defence and Thomas Watters in goals making a string of great saves.

Further scores from Meath Brian Dowling 1g 1pt, Mickey Cullen 2pts, Ronan Byrne 2pts, Cormac Mattimoe 1pt, Sean Keogh 1pt.
 
Meath finished out winners 2g 17pts to Westmeath 8pts.

Meath played there second game against Wicklow with a whole new team and this was a ding-dong affair and it finished Meath 4g 5pts Wicklow 2g 3pts.
 
Meath had great performances from Robert Kelly in goals,defenders Evan Brennan,Adam Murphy,Rory Smyth,Mark Phelan,James O'Brien,Johnny Brown were rock solid throughout.
 
Midfield Jamie Smith and James Mc Nally ensured the forwards got a good supply of the ball and up front Jamie Connolly,Aoran Brennan,Conor Geoghegan,Ben Hannigan and Thomas Conroy caused all sorts of problems for the Wicklow defence.
 
The last game was up against a Wexford team that had beaten Westmeath and Wicklow comfortably.

The Meath lads were up for the challenge and Wexford were made fight all the way and ended up winning by 4 pts.

The Meath defence stood solid against the Wexford attack that had noticed up a total of 8g 24pts in their previous two games and restricted them to 3g 7pts.
 
Jack Cummins,Ben MC Gowan,Aidan Mangan were brilliant on the half back line breaking up numerous Wexford attacks.
 
Thomas Watters could'nt be faulted for any of the goals and his full back line of Darren Hennessy,Peter Farrell and Adam Murphy gave him great protection.
 
Midfielders Conor Mc Nally and Ethan Devine ensured a good supply of balls into the Meath forwards.

Meath forwards notched up a total of 2g 6pts with Brian Dowling getting 1g 2pts,Cian Slattery 1g, Mickey Cullen 1pt,Ethan Devine 1pt,Ronan Byrne 1pt,Sean Keogh 1pt.
 
Meath finished the game on a high against a fancied Wexford outfit and look forward to the next Leinster outing in July.
