JFC: Curraha at a canter
April 14, 2014
Curraha's Gavin Coyle
Curraha 3-17
Kilbride 0-07
Although these two teams drew in the League a few weeks back, there was only ever going to be one winner here and that was Curraha who performed exceptionally well in perfect conditions in Ratoath.
James McEntee returned from injury and slotted over the first score of the game inside the first minute. McEntee then set up Gavin Coyle whose attempted point dropped short and went into the top corner of the Kilbride net for Curraha's first goal. That gave Curraha the upper hand and three pointed frees from Shorthall along with one from play had the Curraha team well in control. Kilbride got their first score on 17 minutes from a placed ball and got two more points from frees before the half time interval. McEntee and Coyle also added points as well as Danny Battersby and Ciaran O'Hanrahan to give Curraha a healthy advantage at the break of 1-09 to 0-3.
Like the first half, Curraha started the better team and two David Toner points along with one a piece from David Coyle and Shorthall had Curraha in full control. Kilbride did respond and they scored three unanswered points before Shorthall got another and McEntee getting two goals after good pressure from him forcing a mistake in the Kilbride defence. Toner and Battersby finished the scoring for the Curraha men who will face a stiffer test next Sunday when they face Summerhill.
Best for the winning team were Shorthall, David Coyle, Ian McManus and McEntee.
