Na Fianna U14 at Camogie Feile
July 17, 2013
Na Fianna CLG are extremely proud of our U14 Feile Camogie team
Often its only through reflection and time that the true value of achievements can be assessed and rated. Na Fianna U14 Camogie Feile team did not progress past the group stages in Limerick on the 1st weekend in July but their performances throughout the tournament left no one in doubt as to what make this group of girls special.
Having been drawn in Division 2 which is still a matter of wonderment, amusement and astonishment for all of those involvement in the team considering our near neighbours Trim were in Division 3 of the hurling Feile, the girls played every game as if they has been playing at this level all of their Camogie careers.
Clooney Quin, Co Clare, Sixmilebridge, Co Clare and Birr Co Offaly were the teams which Na Fianna faced in their Group and those who travelled to support them were fearful of what the results could be. But the girls performed to a standard which would make even those they competed against give them a guard of honour and a standing ovation as they left the pitch after their final match.
Na Fianna bet Clooney Quin and Sixmilebridge, home club of the legend that is Davie Fitzgerald, and were beaten by a goal by Birr who had the great Brian Whelahan on their backroom staff. Just a puck of the ball separated Na Fianna from Birr at the end of the group stages and the "pleasure" of meeting Waterford in the semi-finals.
Na Fianna CLG are extremely proud of our U14 Feile Camogie team and would like to thank them for the wonderful weekend they gave us. We would also like to thank our host club Clooney Quinn, the host families and especially Orla, Kevin, Trish and Breda who made sure that the weekend will live long in the memories of everyone who was there.
