AFL3: Second half improvement secures win for Bective
May 20, 2013

Bective's Adam Keating
Bective 1-19
Kilmainhamwood 0-9
Bective produced a much improved second half performance to take the points in this All County 'A' League Division 3 encounter in Kilmainhamwood on Sunday afternoon.
On a bright and warm day a big crowd had been gathering in Nobber for the annual Fair Day en route and for the first quarter of an hour or so Bective's minds were definitely elsewhere as The Wood built up an early 0-4 to 0-1 lead.
But Pauric McConnell found the net to level and Bective were marginally the better side for the remainder of the half to go in 1-7 to 0-7 in front.
The defending all over the field had been slack in the opening half but that improved right from the start of the second as Bective set about raising their game.
Ciaran Reilly and Sean Moran started to get on top at midfield while Marty Mulhall, Paul McCabe, James Davis and Craig Roche shared the scoring between them to quickly put distance between the sides on the scoreboard.
The only disappointing note was the failure to convert any of a number of second half goal chances, with Davis, Adam Keating and Paul Lyness all contriving to miss clear openings.
All in all though it was a decent final competitive outing before the return to Championship action on June Bank Holiday weekend.
Best for the 'Wood were Padraigh Barber and Harry Corbally in defence with Emmet Clarke at midfield. Alan Carolan, Michael Shankey, Padraigh Owens, Sean Mulligan and Stephen Kiernan all made useful contributions up front.
