Schools: Late Ó hIfearnáin strike seal win for Gaelscoil

Gaelscoil Na Bóinne and St. Pauls Navan served up the best game of the day in the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Shield Hurling Final, the second last game at Trim. 

Gaelscoil Na Bóinne 2-3 St. Pauls Navan 2-2

St Paul's were the better team in the opening half and goals from corner forward Ryan Mullen gave the Navan school a 2-0 to 0-1 half time lead. Gaelscoil Na Bóinne came out a different team in the second half. A goal from Ben Ó Gamhna and a Darragh Ó hIfearnáin point brought them back in to the game. St Paul's captain Sean McDermott kept his team in front with two points and with time up the Navan school held a 2-2 to 1-3 lead. Gaelscoil Na Bóinne were rewarded a close in free, up stepped joint captain Ó hIfearnáin to blast the ball into a crowded Pauls net to seal a memorable win.

After the game Gaelscoil Na Bóinne joint captains Cormac Ó Slatara and Darragh Ó Ó hIfearnáin were presented with the shield.
