Mayo manager Stephen Rochford had a special word of praise for two of his star performers from last weekend's All-Ireland SFC qualifier win over Kildare.

The Connacht side returned to form with an impressive win over the Lilywhites, which was spearheaded by the returning Andy Moran and Diarmuid O'Connor.

Both players have returned after lengthy spells on the sidelines and they made their mark on the game with O'Connor notching 1-05 from play, while Moran's link up play was excellent throughout.

"It's great to have Diarmuid back again," Rochford told the Western People. "He played his first game for us since the National League only last week and hopefully that form will continue and keep going the right way.

"Andy retained the ball very, very well and that level of experience is important. Also experienced players such as Alan Dillon and Barry Moran coming in helped steady the ship at the right time."
