Former Roscommon All Star Paul Earley says the loss of home advantage for today's Connacht SFC final replay could work to his native county's benefit.

The Rossies were set to have home advantage against Galway this weekend but due to redevelopment work at Dr Hyde Park the decider will be played in Castlebar - a venue which Earley feels will better suit the side managed by Kevin McStay and Fergal O'Donnell.

"I don't see giving up home advantage as any great missed opportunity. The reality is that Dr Hyde Park hasn't been much of an advantage to Roscommon," Earley told the Irish Sunday Mirror.

"Galway beat Roscommon the last time they played a championship game there and the last time they played a league game there. So do you really want Galway coming back again?

"It could just be a blessing in disguise going to Castlebar because we're not like other counties, our home is not a fortress. Castlebar is a big open pitch and Roscommon will relish that."

Throw-in this afternoon at MacHale Park is at 3.30pm.
