Mayo's league chances in 2016 have suffered a major set-back with the news that top scorer Cillian O'Connor will miss the entire Division 1 campaign.

The Mayo News reports that the Ballintubber player underwent knee surgery last Monday and is set to be sidelined for up to six months.

He should, however, be available to new manager Stephen Rochford for the Connacht holders' championship clash against London in the summer.
