Cillian O'Connor has pipped Sean Quigley for the Golden Boot award.

The Ballintubber sharpshooter has been confirmed as the football championship's top scorer for the third year running after it was discovered that he posted 1-7, and not 1-6, in Mayo's Connacht final rout of Sligo reports the Irish Star.  The addition of the extra point to O'Connor's tally means he edges out Fermanagh's Quigley by a point. O'Connor's overall tally was 3-34 (43), while Quigley's was 2-36 (42).

Dublin's Bernard Brogan finished in third place with a tally of 6-21 (39), with all but one of his points coming from play. Quigley scored 0-14 from play, while O'Connor shot 2-5 from play.

The second highest scorer from play in the championship was Laois' Donie Kingston with a tally of 2-12.

Incidentally, last Sunday's All-Ireland final match programme had Quigley leading the way with an incorrect tally of 3-36.
