All-Ireland MinorC Hurling Final - Adrian Freeman Cup
Mayo v Tyrone
Saturday 19th Sept @2.30pm
Venue: Ballinamore (Leitrim)
Ref: Declan O'Driscoll (Limerick)

Nine weeks after the Mayo Minor Hurlers defeated Longford in the Regional MinorC hurling final, the date of the All-Ireland MinorC hurling final has eventually been nailed down for this Saturday 19th September at 2.30pm in Ballinamore. This year Tyrone provide the opposition for Brian Finns charges, having overcome the challenge of Monaghan in the previous two years. Ballinamore has been a happy hunting ground for the Mayo Minor hurlers on those previous two occasions, and the familiar surrounds along with the memory of good days past will help in the preparation of the Green and Red on the day.

The Mayo side commenced their training program in December of last year, with a winter Strength and Conditioning Program. Ten months later and after over sixty training sessions, several challenge matches, and two championship ties - they now find themselves on the crest of bringing the inaugural Adrian Freeman Memorial Cup back to Mayo.

However, they first have to conquer a physically strong Tyrone outfit who overcame Cavan, Monaghan and Louth on their march to this stage. The recently opened Tyrone GAA Centre of Excellence in Garvaghy near Ballygawley has proven successful in the preparation of Oak Leaf hurlers of recent, with the facility equipped with state of the art hurling facilities including Hurling Walls and 4G floodlit pitches - ideal for preparing hurling groups to compete at this level.

The Mayo side will see players from clubs Tooreen, Westport, Castlebar, Ballina, Ballyvary, Caiseal Gaels and Ballyhaunis all join as one for the cause of Mayo GAA - with many of the 30 strong Mayo panel going for their second All-Ireland medal in twelve months. Many of the side are currently in third level education in Limerick, Galway and Dublin - and have shown serious commitment in travelling home for training over the past three weeks. An All-Ireland title would surely be a just desert for their efforts.

The match throws in at  2.30pm at the Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins GAA Grounds with Declan O'Driscoll (Limerick) officiating.
