Feeney: We're improving

Toreen's Kenny Feeney in action for Mayo

Mayo forward Kenny Feeney is confident that the side can make a mark on this year's Christy Ring Cup.

An opening day defeat to Derry sees Mayo face either London or Kildare in the next round, but Feeney stressed to the Western People that they fear no one.

"There's a lot of fitness work gone in and we dominated for the last fifteen minutes but they caught us on the break for a sucker punch," said Feeney.

"We were running up to three weeks ago so that stood to us. But we were definitely not at the races at all for the first fifteen or 20 minutes of the second half and that's simply not good enough against Derry. That's where they did all their scoring.

"Look, Derry are mid-table in a division above us and we've come here and run them to two-points after a bad league ourselves. We'd fear no one and hopefully with a home draw, you never know what could happen."
