Connelly hails training camp

April 23, 2015

Mayo GAA chairman Mike Connelly is confident that the training camp held in Portugal was a major success.

The Connacht champions spent last week in warm weather training and Connelly told the Mayo News that it will be a huge benefit for the squad come the start of the championship.

"It was a really good camp," said Connelly. "The lads trained hard, they worked hard, and morale was really good out there. There were no major injuries, a few niggles here and there, so it's full steam ahead now for the next seven weeks.

"The lads are a professional group who set themselves very high standards. They applied themselves brilliantly out there. At the moment they all know they're fighting to be in 32 then the 26 and then the team itself."
