Mayo joint-manager Noel Connelly admits that he was impressed by a couple of panellists in last weekend's FBD league win over IT Sligo.

The Westerners kept up their good early season form with a win over the students and Connelly was pleased by the performances of Morgan Lyons and Evan Regan.

Speaking to the Mayo News, he said: "The defence did very well as a unit. I thought Morgan Lyons did very well in the half forward line, worked hard and linked well with the guys inside.

"I thought Evan Regan's fitness has improved, from the match the last day to now. I thought he was lively, got on a lot of ball, and put up a few good scores."
