Dillon to soldier on

Alan Dillon will, once again, throw his shoulder to the wheel as Mayo go in search of a long overdue Sam Maguire Cup success in 2015.

At 32 years of age, Dillon is the oldest member of the Mayo panel and there had been speculation about his future in the green and red jersey.

But, at the Mayo News/O'Neills Club Stars event on Saturday night, he revealed he has no intention of adding his name to the lengthy list of high profile gaelic football and hurling retirements in recent weeks.

"The body and mind are good at the minute," he remarked.

"It's very hard to walk away from something. You see a lot of the lads - hurlers and footballers - retiring this winter. I suppose that's something that I wasn't gonna do ... we're close.

"Hopefully 2015 will be special."
