Achill manager Paul McNamara saluted his players after their Connacht junior club championship final defeat.

The Mayo men were second best against Oileann Arainn at Tuam Stadium on Sunday but McNamara says his players were brilliant all year:

"We're disappointed but there's no disgrace in the defeat," he told The Western People. "We worked our socks off but they were able to punish us every time we made a mistake and we made too many of them.

"We wish them all the best and we'll just have to pick it up again and have another shot at the junior championship next season.

"We have fine young lads in that dressing room. We're in a much better position than we were this time last year."
