Ballintubber co-manager Peter Ford says he enjoyed the Mayo SFC final.

After watching his side secure a 2-9 to 1-9 victory over Castlebar Mitchels on Sunday, the former Mayo full back told The Mayo News:

"It's great. When the final whistle blew I was delighted. When there were about two minutes to go, I knew once we didn't concede a goal we were going to win it.

"It was a great relief. It's great for everybody involved in the club and in the community. So many people played their part in this.

"I actually enjoyed the game. I was quite relaxed beforehand because we had prepared so well, we had all our players fit, and we were ready to play.

"We got such a great start as well that unless we did something silly we weren't going to lose the game."
