Finn ecstatic

Mayo manager Brian Finn was thrilled to see his charges lift the All-Ireland Minor 'C' title against Monaghan last weekend.

The Connacht side came out on top by two points in an absorbing contest that went right down to the wire and Finn stressed to the Western People that the youngsters had put in a huge effort all year.

"I'm thrilled for the lads," said Finn. "They have a huge effort put in. They're out since April, and it's a short enough competition in terms of games, but we've had serious commitment and great effort from the lads.

"We had a tough game in the final, there was nothing in it, it was nip and tuck. But I felt we were good enough to hold out. The few lads that were picking up knocks made it a bit tighter for us, but I was confident."
