History repeated itself in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim today when Mayo defeated Monaghan in the All-Ireland MHC 'C' final for the second year in succession.

Two goals in the opening 17 minutes paved the way for the Westerners' successful title defence. They went on to lead by 2-7 to 0-7 at half-time and held off a second half comeback from Monaghan to win by four points.

Mayo captain James Lyons was presented with the All-Ireland silverware afterwards.
