The Mayo fan who invaded the pitch during Saturday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay has vowed never to do it again.

Mick Barrett had to be restrained by five stewards at the Gaelic Grounds after tensions spilled over in the closing stages of the extra-time thriller. He was later spotted in a Supermacs fast food restaurant posing for photographs with amused Mayo supporters.

"It will never happen again, but it happened in the spur of the minute," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.

"Maybe it was wrong, it was spur of the minute, but I did nothing wrong."

Clearly not impressed with Cormac Reilly's refereeing performance, Barrett added: "The standard of refereeing is going to have to be looked at."
