Mayo boss James Horan was in Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening to watch former Connacht rugby captain Gavin Duffy help Salthill/Knocknacarra to a 1-8 to 0-8 victory over Michael Meehan's Caltra in the Galway SFC.

Duffy was sensationally called up to the Mayo squad after he was released by Connacht Rugby in May, but he has yet to figure for the four-in-a-row Connacht champions who are preparing for an All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Kerry on Sunday week.

He made his debut for Salthill in their 2-11 to 2-9 win over Kilcony at the end of June, having been an unused sub in their surprise first round loss to An Cheartru Rua. Tweet
