Duffy left disgusted

April 16, 2014
Former Mayo minor and under-21 manager Tony Duffy has vented his fury over the farce that forced the Connacht Post Primary Schools Senior 'B' League final to be postponed.

Duffy is manager of the St Louis, Kiltimagh side that reached the final and were due to play St Aloysius, Athlone at O'Rourke Park, Castlerea last Wednesday.

The Mayo school arrived in plenty of time for the match, but their opponents never showed up and following a few phone calls, it was claimed that the Athlone outfit had never been informed of the game.

Speaking to the Western People, Duffy admitted that everyone involves was left bitterly disappointed by what happened.

"The lads are disgusted, their parents are disgusted and we're disgusted," blasted Duffy. "Situations like this do huge damage to the development of Gaelic football.

"There are so many other sports, so many other things pulling at these guys and to be let down like this does huge damage. These lads missed the guts of a day of classes here for nothing and they'll miss the guts of another day when it's rescheduled."
