Junior Sports Minister Michael Ring has pleaded with the GAA to renegotiate their TV rights deal with Sky Sports.

The Mayo TD is vehemently opposed to the idea of GAA supporters having to pay to watch their county teams in action on TV.

"The GAA must got back to square one and renegotiate this deal to firstly allow every championship game to be shown on free-to-air TV such as on RTE or TV3," Ring told the Irish Daily Star.

"Then RTE can make all the side-deals it wants because I realise that any organisation needs new revenue streams to run its activities on an ongoing basis.

"However, all GAA championship games should be available free-to-air. It's my view that the GAA and Sky should tear up this current deal."
