Mayo boss Brennan steps down

Following their exit from the Christy Ring Cup, Mayo hurling has suffered another blow as manager Martin Brennan has resigned form the position.
Brennan has been widely regarded as the man who has put Mayo hurling on the map over the last few years, but last weekend's crushing defeat to Down at the semi final stage saw Brennan make the decision to step down.
"I told the lads I am finishing up," he said. "I have given them four years and I think it is time to give it a new lease of life," said Brennan.
"They are a superb bunch of lads and we have made good progress the last four years but there are a few of the lads who are 30 or 31 who could be thinking how many years are left."
Brennan, along with former Galway hurler Pete Finnerty had transformed Mayo hurling as the county reached the last two Christy Ring Cup semi finals and became a formidable force in hurling's second tier.
