Championship: All roads lead to Dunleer next Sunday for the final of the intermediate championship against Clan Na Gael. Best of luck to the players and management, It's a big day for the club and hopefully we can get the right result, but no matter what the outcome let us all enjoy the day. After all not many of us thought that we would be in the championship final this season so let's make the best of it, we have nothing to lose. O'Connells ABU.

 

Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms this Wednesday 4th October at 8.00pm, jackpot €1,000 in 48 numbers. Congratulation to the gentleman from Dunleer who won our previous jackpot of €5,300.

 

Louth: Pete McGrath has been appointed new Louth senior football manager on a two year term with the option of a third. The native of Down man managed the Mourne-men to their All-Ireland wins in 1991 and 1994 and also the minor's in1987. One of his selectors will be fellow Down man Declan Mussen, two more selectors from Louth will be selected shortly. O'Connells GFC wishes both Pete and Declan every success in their new posts.

 

Forum: Are you a GAA player aged 12 - 21 years old? Would you like to improve your performance as a player? Would you like to learn how to balance the demands of study and sport? Would you like to get inside the minds of some of the top Inter-County players in the country? If so, apply to attend the FREE #GAAyouth Forum supported by Sky Sports in Croke Park. The #GAAyouth Forum is designed by young players, for young players. The Forum will be a fun and informative with a mix of interactive exhibitions, workshops, high profile speakers and a Q&A session. The Forum takes place on Saturday 28th October. Registration is from 9.30am; the Forum commences at 11am and concludes at 4.30pm. This FREE event will fill up fast so make sure to apply online ASAP! 600 delegate places are up for grabs for male and female players in three age groups: 12 - 15 (Junior Cert Cycle); 16 - 18 (Leaving Cert Cycle) and 19 - 21. The online application process is NOW OPEN at gaa.ie (http://www.gaa.ie/my-gaa/getting-involved/gaa-youth). A Club can complete an application form to nominate a young player/s from the Club to attend the Forum (max. 4 players, ages 12 - 21). The closing date for applications is Friday 6th October and successful applicants will be informed by Friday 20th October.
