Na Piarsaigh GAA club notes

MINOR HURLERS

Our minor hurlers have been hurling well of late and had two excellent victories over Kilmallock and Garryspillane recently.

Last Monday night they made the journey to Adare to take on the locals.

Buoyed by their recent wins, the lads started the game very well and were 2-4 to 0-00 inside the first quarter with goals coming from Eoghan Sherlock and Emmet McEvoy.

Some excellent point scoring from Reuben McCarthy, Pauric Heaney, Lucas O Sullivan and James Daly had us 2-10 to 1-3 at the break.

Two excellent Sean Long points at the start of the second half drove us on before Lucas O Sullivan raised our third green flag with a rasper of a shot.

Futher points from Emmet McEvoy, Keith Dempsey and James Daly frees finished off a rather convincing victory from an ever improving team.

Mark Daly and Ralph Leonard were excellent in defence while Adam McNamara gelled well with Lucas O Sullivan in midfield.

Up front Emmet McEvoy always threatened and James Daly struck his frees very well.

A fine save from substitute goalkeeper Ger Kennedy in the closing stages deserves a mention.

Final score. Na Piarsaigh 3-20 Adare 1-9
