Naomh Fionnbarra club notes

There was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne's Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 19th April. The winning numbers were 1, 7, 22 & 27.  There was 1 match 3 winner Maria Butterly, Togher who won €150.  Next weeks jackpot stays at €10,000.  Tickets are available from the usual local outlets, Lotto sellers and any committee member.  Funds raised from our Lotto draw go towards the running of the club and your support is greatly appreciated. 

 

Our Intermediate team had a good 1-11(14) to 2-5(11) win over O'Raghallaigh in Rd 2 of the Division 2 League at John Markey Park, Ballygassan on Sunday afternoon.  The lads have upcoming fixtures scheduled in the Division 2 League v Dundalk Young Irelands on Friday 28th April in at 7:15pm in Páirc Éire Óg, Dundalk, v O'Connells on Saturday 13th May in John Markey Park, v St. Feckins on Friday 19th May at Beaulieu, Termonfeckin.  There are upcoming fixtures in Division 4 v Cooley Kickhams on Friday 5th May in Fr. McEvoy Park, Cooley, v St. Patricks on Sunday 28th May in John Markey Park and v Kilkerley Emmets on Tuesday 6th June in Kilkerley.

 

Our Ladies team also had a busy but mixed week with a good win over the Geraldines on Monday evening in the second round of intermediate league on a scoreline of 3-10 to 1-10. They followed this up with 2 defeats.  Firstly on Friday night they were beaten 4-12(24) to 2-11(17) by Dowdallshill/Kilkerley Emmets and then on Sunday morning were beaten again 2-9(15) to 2-2(8) by St. Patricks/Cúchalainn Gaels.  To compound a mixed week star midfielder Aideen Dunne suffered a serious injury in the game on Friday night.  We wish her a speedy recovery and hopefully she will be back playing soon.

Naomh Fionnbarra Ladies will be holding a fundraising Rock and Roll Bingo night in the Glyde Inn on Saturday the 13th of May. All support welcome. 

 

The club is hosting a Medium Night with Calirvoyant Brendan O'Friel in the near future.  Please watch out for further details for what should be a great night.

 

Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. are hosting a Kellogs GAA Cúl Football and Hurling Camp again this year from Monday 31st July and Friday 4th August.

The club would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Joe Murphy, The Cíorogs, Painstown, Togher who passed away recently.   Joe had a long and distinguished playing career with the 'Barrs starring as mdifielder.  He won the McArdle Cup in 1960 and 1963, captaining the team in 1960.  Joe also played with Louth Juniors.  Prior to the formation of Naomh Fionnbarra in 1957, Joe played with St. Colmcilles.  Joecontinued to support the club all of his life and regularly attended games until recently.  May he Rest In Peace.
