Sheelan Cup: Barrs fall to Gaels

Played in calm, damp conditions Naomh Fionnbarra played Dundalk Gaels in the 2nd Round of the Paddy Sheelan Cup at Dundalk on Sunday morning.  The Gaels made the brighter start and got the firt score but the half was nip and tuck as both teams traded scores.  The pick of the Finbarrs scores coming from a well taken point by Conor Osborne while Pádraic Murphy was steady on the frees.  The half finished even 0-4 apiece.  

The Gaels upped it a gear in the second half and tacked on a number of points as the Barrs were stuck in 3rd gear.  Paddy McGrane made 2 superb saves to keep the Togher men's chances alive.  At the other end Jack Butterly goaled to reduce the deficit to 3 but the Dundalk men grabbed the last 2 points to run out convincing winners.  Final score:  Dundalk Gaels 0-12(12) Naomh Fionnbarra 1-4(7)
