Money: The GAA's financial report was released last week which shows that the association broke even last year. But some of the figures in the newspapers during last week were remarkable to say the least. The Dub's who have the most lucrative sponsorship deal in the country received a massive €2,098,960 from the GAA in 2015 and low and behold Louth received the lowest €300,509, even London and New York received more than us. The huge discrepancy between what Dublin and the rest of us get, should generate a great debate and the GAA has set up a committee to find a fairer way of distributing funds. Dublin received €1,305,765 for games development while Leitrim only received €39,000 and I don't know Louth's allocation but I bet it's small compared to Dub's. Is it any wonder that every other sport in county Louth is flourishing compared to Gaelic football when our funding is so small? GAA director of finance Tom Ryan said "We're conscious of the discrepancies and the challenges it poses for the counties. I don't think you can solely attribute playing success to purely financial reasons, there are other factors at play as well". Well Tony, sure there are other factors as well but why not share the money out equally for all counties' and let's see what happens?
