FL3 playoff: Kevin's advance to meet Emmets

November 16, 2015

St Kevin's Sean Crosbie

ST KEVINS 2-9
LANNLEIRE 0-12

A Patrick Clarke goal two minutes from the end kept alive St Kevins hopes of playing Division 2 football next season.

After suffering the disappointment of losing the Division 3 League decider on Tuesday night, the Philipstown side bounced back with victory over neighbours, Lannleire, thanks to the late strike from the sub.

Up that that stage, the game was very much in the balance but Clarke's goal ensured that the Kevins will now take on Glen Emmets to decide who will meet Oliver Plunketts.

Glen Emmets were given a bye in their semi-final as they Westerns elected not to to field.

It was Lannleire who opened the scoring but St Kevins who took control and a goal from Cian Callan on ten minutes had them leading by 1-3 to 0-2. However, the Dunleer men cut the gap to 1-5 to 0-6 at the break.

With Colin Murphy and Alan Murphy in good form in front of the posts, Lannleire got back on level terms early in the second half and they could have been ahead only for Conor Callan to pull off a fine save to deny Paul Callan.

Seanie Crosbie's point on 57 minutes but the Kevins 1-9 to 0-11 ahead before Clarke struck what proved to be the decisive score soon after.
