Review: Now that the football season has ended its time to look back at how the adult teams got on in their divisions and championships. The senior team started the season in the Sheelan Cup but lost two out of the three games and did not qualify for the knockout stages. Having missed out in the Sheelan Cup we moved into the Sheelan Shield and won the competition beating Mattock Rangers in the final, which was a great game won by the narrowest margin, one point. In the senior division one league we could not manage to win away from home and up until the last game of the league were unbeaten at home. We played 11, lost 6, won 4 and one draw at home to the Mairtins and finished seventh in the league table well away from relegation. In the championship we got off to a great start with a five point win over the O'Mahonys but lost to Cooley in our next game. We still got to the knockout stages as runners up in the group but were no match for the county champions St. Patricks in the quarter final and the team we beat by five points in the first game are now in the final, funny old game football. In the division 4C league we started with two wins and two defeats, but after that we remained undefeated for the rest of the competition and won the league title with a victory over the Young Irelands in the final. In the junior 2B championship we got to the semi-final with a victory over St. Kevin's but were defeated by a much stronger Annaghminnon Rovers team on the day. We would once again thank all the players who lined out for the club this season especially the older lads who put the boots on for the cause in the division 4 league and junior championship. It does not get any easier year after year but next season could be our biggest challenge for a long time with some of our players retiring and others heading abroad for work and other commitments, so all need to pull together to maintain our senior status in both league and championship.
