Hunterstown were entering the 2nd round of their championship campaign in good spirits after a great win over Naomh Malachi the previous weekend. Ryan Ward got the scoring underway fro Hunterstown with a well taken goal, which was the result of some great passing & team work from Brendan Lennon & Paul Carrie. Paul Carrie secured Hunterstown's 1st point of the match, after receiving a great pass from Niall Carrie. Ryan Ward made his presence known on the pitch scoring 2 successive points, followed by another Paul Carrie point. Hunterstown were now leading 1-04 to 0-02, until some great attacking from St.Joseph's saw them close the gap to 1 point by scoring 4 points in 4 minutes, Brendan Lennon got his name on the scorecard with two quick points, followed quickly by another Paul Carrie & Ryan Ward point. The Joes reduced the gap to 3 points before half-time.

The 2nd half proved to be just as entertaining as the first half, with the Joes scoring 1-01 in the opening 5 minutes of the 2nd half, giving them the lead for the first half. Brendan Lennon quickly cancelled this out with a well taken point, making both teams level for the first time. The Joes had the opportunity to take the lead with a goal, only to be stopped by goalkeeper Alan Fedigan. The Joes took the lead only for their point to be quickly cancelled by a Tony McKenna free, bringing both teams back to a draw. The Joes continued to fight on with another point only to be cancelled out by a Paul Carrie free. The Joes had a 2nd opportunity to extend their lead with another goal, only to be stopped once again by goalie Alan Fedigan. It was Hunterstown who then took the lead, by attacking & breaking through the Joes defence, with Brendan Lennon, Tony McKenna, Padraig Mathews & Paul Carrie scoring a point each in 4 minutes. It was subtitutes Martin Lennon & Padraig Mathews who made their presence known, with Martin Lennon making a great sprint, breaking through the Joes defence, to offload the ball to Padraig Mathews, who slapped the ball into the back of the net, brining the score to 2-15 to 1-11. Paul Carrie & Paddy Mooney continued the scoring for Hunterstown. The Joes were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute, this could've reduced the gap to 3 points, only for it to be sent over the crossbar. Alan Fedigan made another great save to prevent the Joes from closing in on Hunterstown. Padraig Mathews & Brendan Lennon got a point each just before the full-time whistle.
