O'Raghallaigh's Ben Rogan

O'Raghallaighs 3-14 Mattock Rangers 1-14

League form was turned on its head as O Raghallaighs caused a surprise by scoring a six point win over Mattock Rangers in Group 4 of the Louth Senior Championship at Dunleer on Sunday evening.

The Drogheda men haven't had the best of times in the Division 1 League this year, but they produced their best performance of the season on to claim a fully deserved victory that gives them a great chance to qualify for the knock-out stages.

Two goals in the opening quarter paved the way for a victory that was inspired by the attacking threat of full forwards Ben Rogan, Craig McEnteggart and Barry Flanagan who finished with a combined total of 2-13.
It was Mattock who got off to the better start and with Christy Grimes on target, they were three points up inside seven minutes.

However, Ben Rogan, brought his side back into the game with a well-taken goal to level matters.
Two further points followed before Eoghan Moore got through for a second goal to leave the Drogheda men in command.

Mattock responded well and a goal from Brian Corcoran saw them reduce the deficit to just 2-5 to 0-6 at half time.
The gap was down to just one a minute inside the second half thanks to a David Reid strike, but that was as good as it got for the Collon men.

The O Raghallaighs hit back with three in succession from McEnteggart, Flanagan and Ruairi Moore and that proved to be the decisive period as they maintained that advantage for the remainder of the game.

The teams traded points throughout the final quarter and with Mattock piling on the pressure late on, it was the Drogheda men who settled the issue as they broke clear to see Rogan hit the net and bring his tally to 2-5 for the evening.
