Division 1: Last Sunday was a very bad day at the office for the team when we suffered one of our biggest defeats in senior football. Six goals, four in the first half and the game was practically over by half time. There is nothing easy in this league and maybe it's a lesson learnt and not to be forgotten. Another unbeaten team visit the Grove next Sunday the Sean O'Mahonys, throw in 3.00pm.

U12 v Hunterstown: Played in Hunterstown this was always going to be a tight game after been beaten by them last year by 2 points after us leading for most of the game it was a disappointing result. The 1st half did not start well for us and we found ourselves trailing badly although we had plenty of possession we found ourselves 2-3 to 0-3 behind. Whatever it is about us we are definitely a 2nd half team and again this week we proved that!  2 goals from Sean Reynolds lit the fuse which fired us into action with some fine defending and much more clinical finishing we ran out much deserved winners on a score line of 2-9 to 2-6!  With a bye in the first round that completes our three grading games we now await to see which division we will be placed in. Although we are a fine team let's hope we get a favorable group this year. For O Connell's we had Ryan Mc Keown in goals Dirmuid Martin, Tadgh Kearney in defense Jack Dunne in midfield and in forwards Calum Woods, Reece Reilly, Darragh Mc Donnell and Nathan Carragher.
U14 v Glen Emmett's: Played in Tullyallen we managed to get 17 players, which was positive seeing we had to give a walkover in our 1st, game due to lack of numbers. We had 8 players from O' Connell's three of which were U12. This was a very strong Glen Emmett's team with a few of them doing well at Louth development squad trials. From the throw in we were on the back foot and only for some good scores from Cathal Reynolds we may have gone in scoreless at half time. Half time 2-7 to 0-4. The 2nd half saw the Emmett's really pull away and with plenty of subs at their disposal the really played some great football. As for us we have a lot to do but we won't give up and with a little more commitment and effort our lads can come good. For O Connell's we had Lee Molloy, Niall Kennedy, Anton Mc Greavy, Reece Reilly, Jamie Molloy, Brendain Sadlier, Jack Dunne and Dirmuid Martin.
