There will be a big Wee County interest in Carlton's AFL clash with Essendon at the MCG on Saturday as Ciaran Byrne is set to make his debut.
The former Louth underage star has been handed the number 38 Navy Blue jumper and will take his place in the half-back line as a reward for his impressive summer.
The 20-year-old, who signed with the AFL outfit at the end of 2013, ran out 14 times for Carlton's VFL affiliate the Northern Blues last season and joins Zach Tuohy in the Navy Blues' starting line-up this weekend.
