Three point win for St. Anne's

St. Anne's opened the 2015 season with a three point victory over Inniskeen.
St. Anne's had the better start as the opening chance for a score fell to Siobhan Dawdry (captain) who's effort from a place ball was sent over the bar. This was soon followed by a point from play by Denise Moynagh. From here, both sides exchanged scores leaving St. Anne's with a two point cushion at the interval. (St. Anne's 0-6, Inniskeen 0-4)
Once again, St. Anne's had the brighter start as Denise Moynagh slotted over her 5th point from play. Both sides were creating a large volume of scores at this stage, but were not capitalising from a scoring point of view. The Togher girls probably had the Lions share of possession, however, it was the Inniskeen girls who stepped up a gear as Carmel McSkane levelled the score, when she found the back of the Togher net. The tempo of the game rose slightly and as play continued, both defences were under pressure to clear their area.
The game hung in the balance for a while, until Lorraine Young weaved her way towards the Inniskeen defence and scored a vital point to give St Anne's the narrowest advantage. The Inniskeen girls sent a flurry of attacks towards the St. Anne's goal, but were denied access by a determined Togher defence particularly, Linda Woods, Martina Crehan and goalkeeper Leanne Sharkey. The upper hand swung in St. Anne's favour again as Denise Moynagh added a further two points from play to give them a three point victory.
